What I expect to learn from the podcast project:
- Making a presentation both interesting and informative
- Conveying a message in Japanese to both native speakers and beginning learners
- Using pictures, special effects, etc to spice up the presentation and help make the message more easily understood
- Time management, getting everything done in time and being able to coordinate with group members
- Overcoming challenges with the English/Japanese language barrier
What communication means to me:
- Providing helpful constructive criticism to members but not complaining or being rude
- Being able to talk about problems and everyone pitching in to help solve them
- Everyone is willing to spend time and effort on the task
- Listening to everyone's questions and concerns
Yes, very nice. I see you have written about communication within the group. That's great! I didn't even think about that. I think your points are clear, maybe just add something about what communication means when it comes to the message that the group wants to convey to Japanese people. You mentioned the language barrier which is very important. Maybe something about the cross-cultural setting that you are stepping into by making a podcast like this.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jakob -- communication within the group is just as key to the success of any project as is the task of communicating a message itself. The point you make about a balance between being constructive in criticism and being a positive and encouraging group member is a very good one. And, just as important as group and broader communication are, you also very observantly point out the importance of "communicating" with yourself (time management, etc.).
ReplyDeleteI agree that we need to use some special effects to make the video more interesting and attractive. And equally importantly, the structure of the video matters, as you said, time management. The listening part of communication that you mentioned is very important to make sure we can convey the message effectively. What also matters is how we can get access to the listeners' feedback after the video is posted online.
